Uri Kerstein, General Manager of GigaSpaces activity in Israel, recently gave a lecture to members of the People and Computers’ C3 and C6 forums, sharing the roadmap to achieve real digital transformation with IT and infrastructure managers who participated in the meeting.
He described how new services could be developed and implemented simply, in a matter of a few days.
“The key to real digital transformation is the ability to work in real-time, which enables high performance at accelerated rates and extraordinary scales, through rapidly developing, launching, and implementing services and applications,” said Kerstein.
GigaSpaces is a global pioneer of In-Memory data management and performance technology. The company, which has been around for 20 years, is located in Herzliya Pituach, employs approximately 100 employees, and engages in digital innovation and transformation solutions which are based upon its two product lines – Smart DIH and Smart Cache. The Smart DIH platform effectively fulfills Gartner’s Digital Integration Hub (DIH) architecture.
DIH is an architecture that decouples digital applications from the Systems of Record in order to accelerate innovation. This innovative concept has been defined by Gartner, and was ranked high on their recently published ‘hype cycle for application architecture and integration’. Gartner also highlights GigaSpace’s SmartDIH as a leading out-of-the-box DIH solution.
An Impressive range of customers from around the world
GigaSpaces has an impressive range of worldwide clients including Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, American Airlines, UBS, and the Peugeot-Citroen Group, just to name a few.
Bank Leumi, which recently chose GigaSpace’s SmartDIH platform to power its digital transformation, says that “this solution simplifies digital transformation in large organizations, especially in the areas of finance, insurance, healthcare, and e-commerce.”
The Benefits of Smart DIH
Smart DIH is a software-based platform that can be installed on-premise and/or in a cloud environment, and in many cases is used as part of the organization’s strategy in transitioning to cloud. The solution includes all the components that organizations need to decouple their digital applications from the SoR and enjoy the benefits of the technology in several aspects:
The business aspect – The business units become more innovative, with the ability to quickly develop new services. This leads to a significant improvement in customer experience, and a cost reduction around data consumption while accessing system of record applications.
The development aspect – Developing services quickly and simply, without the need for legacy programming languages skills.
The operational aspect – Rapid response times, simple backlog handling, and full availability of services even when the Systems of Records are not operating.
Through the help of Smart DIH, every organization can accelerate the launch of digital applications and services, develop and implement complex services and applications in just a few days, while drastically reducing the cost of using legacy systems, providing constant contact with the customer, and delivering a 360-degree customer experience.
Customer stories: the Avanza Bank of Sweden and Bank Leumi
One of GigaSpace’s customers – Avanza Bank, which is Sweden’s largest bank, uses the company’s solution as a core system and launches new services with its assistance, sometimes even on a weekly basis. This provides the bank a significant advantage in the time to market and in the stability and scalability of all their systems.
As mentioned above, one of GigaSpace’s interesting recent projects is with Bank Leumi. The company says that when they talk to clients overseas about this project, they say: “I want something like that too!”
After careful examination with leading global data platform vendors, including SAP, Bank Leumi chose the GigaSpace solution as part of its modernization program, with the purpose of maintaining its technological leadership by modernizing the bank’s tech infrastructure and building new, advanced capabilities.
Bank Leumi says that as part of its core and IT systems modernization program, it decided to adopt GigaSpace’s technology to serve the bank’s advanced digital channels, as it enables performance at exceptional rates and scales. Moreover, the solution will also enable the expansion of Bank Leumi’s open banking services, by connecting technology partners such as fintech companies through the cloud – in a secure manner to the bank’s data. It will further enable the rapid development and implementation of hundreds of digital services in a short period of time.
Kerstein concluded by saying that “The Israeli market is ready and is one of the most advanced in the DIH space. Israeli customers think outside the box which puts them far ahead of the global market. In addition to the fact that GigaSpaces is an Israeli company, made in Israel, the company considers the Israeli market to be a very significant market at the strategic level. Hence GigaSpaces is uniquely attentive to this market and builds dedicated teams to support it. Needless to say that we are available to the Israeli customers at the highest possible level.”
