The Need for Data Visualization
More and more enterprises are leveraging big data for improved business decision-making. Operational Data Visualization for Smarter, Actionable Insights
The GigaSpaces / Tableau Software partnership addresses the need for operational data visualization. Integrating GigaSpaces’ InsightEdge in-memory real-time analytics processing platform with Tableau’s analytics platform delivers three main benefits:

In essence, customers get real-time interactive views of their operational data and machine learning insights and the reports are generated very fast. At a large enterprise customer, the time to generate a report from was reduced from 10s of seconds from an SQL database to less than a second.
InsightEdge runs real-time analytics and machine learning on streaming, hot and historical data, in production at scale. Combined with Tableau, it enables enterprises to visualize and understand their continuously updated operational data with low-latency interactive queries.
InsightEdge’s high-speed big data layer supports sharding, filtering, and customized aggregation in a distributed manner for accelerated customized queries. The solution also supports a high number of concurrent users, while retaining extreme performance and scales according to need. Integrating InsightEdge on Tableau
InsightEdge provides a Tableau connector SDK for Tableau Desktop version 2019.01 or later and is available from the Tableau dashboard’s drop-down menu on both Windows and MAC. Integration is a simple process involving the copying of GigaSpaces’ SDK into Tableau in order to establish communication between the two, and providing additional information so that Tableau knows how to use the input data.
This is achieved using simple automated scripts which reduce the interaction required to be up and running. To run the integration and connect Tableau to InsightEdge, go to the Tableau Connect pane and click More. GigaSpaces InsightEdge appears in the available data sources, as shown in the following screenshot:
When GigaSpaces InsightEdge is selected, the following connection dialog box is displayed:
The important properties to be defined here are Server and Space (the default is to connect to a Space called demo on the local machine). When selected, communication between InsightEdge and Tableau is established.
