Keeping apps always-on and accurate is of prime concern to your business, and at GigaSpaces our latest release has a number of updates that will help you achieve that. First and foremost, the enhanced Data Integration capabilities enable improved business continuity, and can reduce time to market.
Smart DIH’s SQL now supports transactions, including multi-statement transactions. This version offers robust parallelization in the data integration processes and in Kubernetes capabilities.
Data Integrations and Pipelines
More and more data is being generated every day, and at GigaSpaces we’ve made it easier for you to integrate this data with our advanced Data Pipelines. Constructing the pipeline has never been easier with our no code configuration, so that team members don’t necessarily need coding capabilities to assist with pipeline activities. You can use GigaSpaces’ embedded connectors such as IBM Infosphere Data Replication (IIDR), right out of the box, which incorporate seamless integrations from data sources such as IBM z/OS mainframe, including DB2 on IBM iSeries (AS/400), in addition to previously-supported IBM z/OS mainframe. Smart DIH also works in conjunction with any third-party connectors, and you don’t have to choose which ones, they can all be used simultaneously.
Full data loads are highly efficient since effective parallelization provides robust, super-fast uptake. Changing the schema (adding new tables) won’t slow you down, and data is still available for Read operation. Unlike most CDCs on the market, GigaSpaces data integration capabilities ensure business continuity even during updates with no downtime of digital services.
SpaceDeck
Release 16.2.1 introduces the SpaceDeck Command and Control Center for Smart DIH users providing an intuitive, streamlined user interface that currently supplements and will ultimately replace the GigaSpaces Ops Manager, GigaSpaces Management Center and Web Management Console UIs. SpaceDeck enables the definition and modification of the data which will be pulled from the Systems of Record and placed in the GigaSpaces in-memory data grid or in SSD storage.
SpaceDeck offers:
- No-code functionality: the environment can be set up and monitored using the user-friendly SpaceDeck screens, without writing or customizing code
- Clear flows: for defining and running the online environment
- Built in data and system monitoring tools: that enable the smooth 24/7 operation of the system, such as view of transaction times and counts and spotting data bottlenecks
SpaceDeck includes:
- Spaces: display status, resource usage and error analysis of Spaces and related partitions

- Data Sources: specifies the data source that will be used to provide data in a data pipeline
- Data Pipeline: display data pipeline status details such as source table in the System of Record, resulting Object in GigaSpaces, and parameters of the data connection; allows quick no-code creation of new data pipelines
- Data Query: Querying the data using SQL commands, supporting standard ANSI SQL-99 syntax

Tiered Storage
Local transactions are now supported in Tiered Storage, assuring consistency between different tiers in a partition. All operations are now aligned atomically, improving data integrity. In addition, Tiered Storage criteria now support complex business rules.

Kubernetes
Smart DIH GigaSpaces products now support multiple versions on the same cluster, for example having a number of different setups for different groups, such as testing, pre-production and production versions. In addition, Zoned Anti-Affinity allows the primary and backup partitions to be located not only in different servers, but in different groups (zones) of servers, so that specific activities do not interfere with each other. Zoned Anti-Affinity also facilitates high availability. Multi-Region Replication, which GigaSpaces implements through its WAN Gateway, is now supported by the Kubernetes orchestration.
SQL Enhancements
Select SQL statements can now be embedded, enabling uniformity throughout the span of a transaction, improving data quality for business intelligence, data inquiry and ETL processes. Third-party tools can now automatically access the schema configurations for GigaSpaces objects, with enhanced SQL capabilities.
SQL coverage now supports date and time data types used by Tableau. The addition of the Tableau-supplied JDBC driver in addition to the ODBC driver offers a more robust Tableau experience, facilitating informed decision-making.
