Before you begin: Make sure you run the Login into the Cloud Console step!

The Data-Grid Demo

The Data-Grid Demo will Deploy a simple IMDG on the Cloud. The Data-Grid will include 2 partitions with one backup for each partition. The Deployment will involve the following:

  • GSM Machine
  • GSC Machines - Running IMDG
  • UI Machine - Running GS-UI

  1. Click the Data-Grid Demo button - The system will start provisioning the Data-Grid on the cloud. This will include a machine for managing the cloud, and machines for the data-grid containers.

    After approximately 3 minutes the application will be deployed completely.

  2. Run the GS-UI on the Cloud – Click the Manage button. A progress bar will be displayed.

    To login into the UI Machine use the following: user:gsadmin password:gigaspaces

    After 2 approximately 2 minutes - The GS-UI will be displayed with the Data-Grid components.

  3. Run a Quick Benchmark on the Cloud - Move to the Space View Tab. Drill into one of the spaces and click the Benchmark Icon – The Benchmark View will be displayed at the right side. Click the Start button – This will write 10,000 objects into the IMDG.

  4. View IMDG Statistics – Click the Statistics Icon. You will have throughput history graph and current throughput and total operations bar displayed

  5. Test High-Availability - Click the Terminate button for one of the small machines. You will see that the data-grid will still have 2 primary partitions running. The client benchmark will continue and write data into these running partitions in case you will click again the Benchmark Start Button.

  6. Test Self-Healing - Start New Containers by Clicking the Add Machine button – A dialog will be opened, have the small machine selected and type 2 as the number of machine to start. These will join the grid. Once new containers will be identified the missing backup partitions will be automatically deployed. The backup partitions will get their data from the existing primaries and the system will heal itself.

  7. Shutdown the Application - Once you are done, Click the Shutdown Button at the Cloud Console to terminate all the machines running the application on the cloud.
