GigaSpaces eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) is an application server, or middleware, that was designed from the ground up to address the needs of high performance SOA environments. It supports all SOA integrations with the best of both worlds: loosely coupled services with high-performance. XAP utilizes an SLA-driven container to dynamically handle varying service loads, making it the ideal solution for meeting SOA performance demands.

Based on a unique architecture, XAP allows creating "processing units" -- mini-versions of the entire SOA application that co-locate multiple services with relevant data and messaging -- that can scale out across low-end servers, resulting in extreme high-performance SOA and scalable systems, while maintaining the advantages in simplicity offered by SOA. It is easy to deploy one or more processing units on as many machines as required-with one click. Deployment doesn't become more complex when scaling from one machine to ten machines to one thousand.
