Taking this step, Cohen says, increases application efficiency and throughput, thus allowing them to run on fewer machines. And, he adds, leveraging server RAM for storage eliminates “trips” to slow storage devices, thus maximizing application processing power." |

Nati Shalom, GigaSpaces CTO, has commented on recent technologies & trends that are developing in the cloud computing market. when asked to comment on new trends in the cloud, Nati explained that "At the end of the day, the key is to turn the data center from a static to a dynamic environment". Nati further added that "This can be accomplished by creating a service environment infrastructure where storage servers, networks, and applications are available on demand. |

"As high-powered Memcached distros like Gear6 and NorthScale become more successful, other companies are getting in on the Memcached action as well. Today GigaSpaces will announce the next release of their eXtreme Application Platform (which is analogous to a JEE server with an embedded database), which now includes support for Memcached. XAP 7.1.1 will be able to deploy with a Memcached schema and provide initial load semantics and write-behind for Memcached. This feature will also add easier accessibility to the XAP for languages like Python, Ruby, and PHP" |

"NEW YORK-Grid-enabling platform provider GigaSpaces Technologies has released version 7.1 of its eXtreme Application Platform (XAP), which is designed to make data and application scaling simpler, according to vendor officials. The latest version introduces GigaSpaces' Elastic Middleware Service, which consists of XAP and its Elastic Data Grid, which makes it possible to provision applications on demand. The platform's Elastic Data Grid feature no longer needs to be running for applications to use it, say officials. |
